Energy Efficiency Project at Prince Abdulaziz Bin Musaed Hospital in Arar Aims for 14% Energy Saving

The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) has launched an energy efficiency retrofit project at Prince Abdulaziz Bin Musaed Hospital in Arar city, aiming to achieve a 14% reduction in energy consumption in the hospital’s 10 buildings, while complying with the best global standards, according to a press release issued recently by the company.
Tarshid Managing Director and CEO Waled Al-Ghreri said in a statement that after conducting field surveys and technical studies of the hospital’s buildings and facilities, Tarshid “identified a clear opportunity to enhance energy efficiency” at Prince Abdulaziz Bin Musaed Hospital. To achieve that, nine key measures had to be implemented, including concerning HVAC, lighting, and control systems, and installing a chiller plant management system, variable frequency drives on primary and secondary chilled water pumps, and smart thermostats for improved performance of packaged air conditioning units, he further stated.
The project also entails upgrading the building management system, to control air handling units and retrofit existing lighting with high-performance LED fixtures.
Moreover, the release stated: “The project targets an annual electricity consumption reduction of 15 million kilowatt-hours to approximately 13 million kilowatt-hours, representing a 14% energy saving. This equates to conserving over 3,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) and reducing harmful carbon emissions by approximately 1,000 metric tons – the equivalent of planting more than 20,000 seedlings annually.”
Tarshid, the release said, is committed to serving the Kingdom’s strategic sustainability goals, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
