Founded in 1986, KUWAIT PACKING MATERIALS MFG. CO K.S.C (CLOSED), or K-PAK, has been a trailblazer in disposable tableware manufacturing in the Middle East. As the first company in the region to produce petroleum-based (polystyrene) products, K-PAK brought a new era of innovation to the industry. Over the years, the company has grown and evolved to meet the changing demands of the market.
Strategic Growth and Expansion
K-PAK’s journey of expansion began in 2000 when it established its second production facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, under the brand name S-PAK. By 2003, the company was tapping into new markets in the Levant and Europe with a third production facility in Jeddah, a key Saudi port city.
Continuing its growth, K-PAK launched U-PAK Industries in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, in 2007. This new facility not only strengthened the company’s production capacity but also offered strategic logistical advantages. Today, the company operates 10 production and storage facilities across the GCC, supported by nearly 250 employees and cutting-edge technology.
Diverse Product Portfolio
K-PAK leads the industry by offering the widest range of disposable products in the region, including takeaway containers, trays, tableware, and cups. These products cater to a variety of sectors such as retail, catering, supermarkets, bakeries, and fast-food chains.
A significant milestone in product innovation was the launch of “Vampirella” absorbent trays, which meet the specific needs of the meat and poultry industry. These trays absorb 5 to 8 times their weight in liquids, improving shelf presentation and extending the shelf life of fresh and frozen cuts.
Additionally, K-PAK has expanded into rigid plastics (PET, PP, and HIPS) to further diversify its food packaging solutions. The company also offers customized branded packaging, including boxes and cups, tailored to client requirements.
Commitment to Quality and Sustainability
All K-PAK products are tested in independent laboratories and meet European Commission Regulation (EU) No.10/2011 standards. As the first ISO and Green-certified manufacturer in the Middle East, the company emphasizes sustainability alongside innovation.
Launch of K-Concept
In 2019, K-PAK established K-Concept, a trading company based in Dubai. This initiative was designed to address growing customer demands for retail disposable products. K-Concept focuses on serving high-end catering, hotels, and restaurants, providing access to innovative and affordable packaging solutions under one roof.
